Walter Chipwitther

I'm really late on these, but I thought better late than never. I'm still working at getting better with the 2D and Drawing stuff. I don't know if I'll have time to color anything. Also, sorry for the crappy quality, I only had a camera phone and Photoshop can only go so far.

Also, since I have more experience in 3D stuff, I thought I would do some quick zBrush sculpts and see if I could apply some of the concepts to 3D.

Leave it to the imagination

Here's my try at random body shapes to help inspire creative character designs.

SIlhouette Practice

I haven't figured out the specific type of Jekyll and Hyde I want yet, so I just did some random silhouette explorations hoping one or two could inspire my final theme.

Jekyll & Hyde Outline Studies

Well, I didn't really get to think much about how I was going to reinvent these characters. I sort of jumped right into classic "scientist/gentleman" to "beast" ideology. Not bad, I guess, but depending on time I may try and spin it a little better...
Dr. Jekyll - I thought about variations more on him - he could be a dapper gentleman, a dork scientist, and sloppy dork (perhaps playing a bit on the "Nutty Professor" idea)...

Hyde is your typical beastly monster fellow, at least as far as I've thought it out. I think he needs more excitement or humor... We'll see what I can do.

Here's my go at it. Sorry I didn't have time to color!

Self Portrait Sketches

I wrapped up a sketchbook last week, so I took the self-portrait assignment as an opportunity to start a new book this weekend. I finally got into a nice Paperchase book with brown paper that I picked up at Borders well over a year ago with this one. :)

I scribbled this one quickly with a ball-point pen on copy paper while helping my sons with their homework last week.

As you can see, I have a slightly twisted view of myself. My wife complains that I never actually capture my look when I draw myself... she's probably right. I feel that I draw me in a more metaphorical sense... I draw myself based more on how I feel about and/or how I see myself from within - exaggerating traits more than features.
